UNITED NATIONS: OCEAN DECADE –Develop a Global Platform for Ocean Communities of Practice
In his previous role as Communications Officer (Ocean) for UNESCO, Vinicius was tasked with developing a virtual platform that could help solve the lack of coordination and collaboration in ocean science (and community action) on a global scale. The platform should bring together diverse stakeholders, including scientists, policymakers, businesses, and civil society, to work towards common goals and specific projects in ocean research and sustainable management, with the possibility to exchange ideas, lessons learned and collaborative tools, as a cluster of thematic and regional communities of practice.
Hosted on a customized version of the Hivebrite system, the resulting Ocean Decade Network is an innovative digital platform designed to unite a diverse range of ocean stakeholders, facilitating the co-design and co-delivery of critical knowledge and solutions to address ocean sustainability challenges. Through features such as group collaboration tools, live chat, and multilingual support (10+ languages), the Ocean Decade Network empowers users to share insights, coordinate actions, and drive forward the ambitious goals of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, ensuring a healthier, more resilient ocean by 2030.
