Débora Miranda is a communications specialist with 15 years of experience in the health sector, helping institutions and professionals gain the visibility they need to drive positive change through science.
Trained as a science journalist, she is dedicated to making complex topics accessible – including public health, antimicrobial resistance, mental health, dementia, cancer, and health systems.
Working closely with academia, Débora has developed a deep understanding of the scientific process and the communication challenges researchers face. She believes that empathy is essential to help bridge the gap between researchers and the audiences they hope to reach.
Débora has collaborated extensively with the WHO, research institutes, NGOs, governments, and clinicians in Europe and globally – including the UK, Belgium, Germany, Indonesia and Mozambique. She has led research dissemination campaigns using storytelling techniques, capacity building, stakeholder engagement, media relations, and tailored content for diverse audiences.
She is now based in her hometown of Lisbon, determined to make an impact in human, animal and environmental health at local, national, and global level. She speaks English, Portuguese and German.
